This Banana Cherry Smoothie Bowl is a healthy and delicious breakfast treat! It’s refreshing, filling, and loaded with beautifying superfoods. Add all your favorite toppings for a treat suited just to your tastes.
This smoothie bowl has been waiting to be posted for a loooooong, long time – I’ve been making this one for a WHILE, and it’s definitely one of my favorite smoothie bowls to date.
The only reason it’s taken so long to get posted? I wanted fresh cherries for the photos. And they’re finally here, so here we go!
There’s a smoothie/juice bar here in San Diego called Beaming – the first one opened pretty close to where my parents live, and it’s been a family fave since it opened. They have SO many amazing juices and smoothies and the best HUGE acai bowls. Everything with loaded with all the superfoods and it’s all super healthy – no refined sugars, gluten, or dairy to worry about.
But…it’s also super expensive. My favorite smoothie from there costs $11 – it definitely adds up, and it’s probably good I don’t live too close to it anymore. That favorite smoothie though? I CRAVE it.
So when I was living in Seattle, I sought to recreate it. It’s called the Euphoria smoothie, and it’s got cherries, bananas, homemade almond milk, a date, coconut butter…and some other goodies.
I made it pretty similarly to the original, but with a few adaptionations – and of course, I made a smoothie bowl, because everything’s better with toppings on top! You can definitely make it as a smoothie though – just add enough almond milk to make it the consistency you prefer.
I added some collagen and maca, two of my favorite beautifying superfoods, to give an extra nutrient boost. Cherries are full of antioxidants, and are super awesome for your skin and hair. This is pretty much a beauty boosting smoothie bowl!
As usual, I went a little nuts with my toppings. I loaded on fresh cherries, sliced bananas, some chocolate granola, chia seeds, flaked coconut, and of course, a big drizzle of almond butter. My toppings were the bomb, but use whatever is convenient and sounds good to you.
Digging into this smoothie bowl, made at home, gives me so much satisfaction to get some many of my favorite flavors…and I’m not shelling out $11! It’s my kind of breakfast perfection, for sure. Especially with the coming summer heat, nothing is more refreshing than a cool and fruity smoothie bowl. Hope you’ll give this one a go – enjoy!

What a beautiful way to start the day! I’m always amazed at how expensive smoothie/acai bowls are, so I tend to make them at home, too. Adding collagen and maca is brilliant! That almond butter drizzle is driving me nutso!
Rachel says
Thank you so very much, Julia!
Elizabeth Kennedy says
Sounds yum – making it and i see in the directions Im adding pitted dates but they arent listed in the ingredients. How many should i add?
Rachel says
I ended up skipping the date because I didn’t think it needed the sweetness – I’ll remove it from the instructions. Hope you like the smoothie bowl, Elizabeth!
Elizabeth says
It was my first time having a smoothie bowl and now I think this is what I will eat for every meal. This will replace my last addiction, which was your banana chocolate oatmeal with peanut butter swirls on top. Damn girl!
Rachel says
So glad you’re loving all my breakfast treats – glad I could convert you to the smoothie bowl lifestyle. You’ll love them this summer! Thanks Elizabeth.

I thought that collagen wasn’t vegan?
Ina says
It most definitely is not…
Rachel says
You’re both right – sorry about that! I meant to note to leave out the collagen to keep it vegan – the recipe is fixed now.

The ingredients are on point girl and i love that you used the word “bomb” to describe your toppings. I say food is the bomb all the time, sometimes yielding eye rolls LOL. this bowl looks amazing!
Rachel says
Hehehe thanks girl!! Glad we’re on the same food describing wave length ;) I get weird looks about how vividly and weirdly I describe food IRL alllll the time, lol!
