Are you a big into snacking, or are you more of a stick-to-your-meals kind of person? I do a little of both – on the days when I’m recipe developing and testing, I’m snacking on baked treats all day and don’t even really eat real meals until dinner.

On the other days, I’m usually a stick-to-my-meals person, but there’s got to be some sort of sweet treat during the day. I’m a baking blogger after all, so it’s okay, right?! [Read more…]

This healthier dessert is gluten free, Paleo-friendly, and refined sugar free. We’re officially into September. How’d we already get this far into 2016? It feels like a few weeks ago we were ringing in the new year, wondering how 2015 passed so quickly. And now, a new school year is beginning (without me), I’m about to turn 23, and I’ve been graduated from college for over a year. Blah. Things are weird.

Also, what is UP with grocery stores already having Halloween candy out? I refuse to go there when it’s still two month away. Let’s stay stuck in summer for just a teeeensy bit longer. Agreed? [Read more…]

These Lemon Cream Pie Bites may be tiny, but they're bursting with bright lemon flavor. Lemon curd and whipped cream are the stars of these bite-sized pies - no baking required! We’re having a big celebration today! What’s the occasion, you ask? Well, three of my incredible blogging friends are having babies, and if that’s not worth celebrating with a big blog bash full of bite sized desserts and appetizers, I don’t know what is.

I could go on and on about how much it means to have great blogging friends when you’re a blogger, and I’m sure every blogger reading this is nodding their head in agreement. Blogging is a solo activity, but when you have like-minded bloggers to chat with, they become your coworkers. [Read more…]

Food bloggers, I’m sure all of you agree with me.  The sense of camaraderie and support for one another always amazes me, and there’s always someone to help celebrate successes, both blogging related and life related.

In the spirit of camaraderie and celebration, today I’m bringing you a recipe as part of a virtual baby shower for my friend Cheryl over at 40 Aprons. Cheryl is welcoming a baby boy at the end of September, and a group of us got together to share some delicious recipes in celebration of Cheryl and baby Leo!

This simple Frozen Lemon Cream Tart with Browned Butter Crust is rich in texture and flavor, and super refreshing on a hot day! You'll love this easy recipe. This crust is seriously one of my favorite things, probably ever. It ranks right up there with peanut butter (as mentioned in my last post) and taking long walks in nice parks and listening to podcasts. If you like browned butter, (and let’s be honest, if you’ve had it, you probably love it) you’ll seriously enjoy this.

This crust is flaky and buttery, with that rich deep flavor that comes from browning the butter slowly. It has a shortbread-like texture that has just the right amount of bite and crumbles into deliciousness as soon as you take a bite. It’s melt-in-your-mouth good. [Read more…]

These Lemon Meringue Pie Parfaits are a no-bake dessert that will be your new summer favorite! Lemon curd, graham cracker crumbs, and meringue makes the best individual treats.

Hey guys – this is my second post for Delish.com. These parfaits were super amazing. Here’s the post – click through to the recipe at the bottom!

Lemon meringue pie is a classic during the summer, when the slight tartness of lemon curd and sweetness of meringue is just the dessert you need to break the heat on a summer day. When served cold, it’s totally refreshing.

However, I’ve always found lemon meringue pies to be a little messy. If your filling isn’t firm enough, you’ll have lemon curd filling all over the place as you try to cut slices—not to mention have to deal with the stickiness of meringue. (Sticky meringue in sticky heat? No thanks.) [Read more…]

These sweet + cakey Lemon Poppy Seed Cookies get a lemony hit from both zest and juice! They're studded with poppy seeds and completed with a delicious lemon glaze.I don’t even really like lemon desserts. Lemon bars are good, but I’ll almost always pass over a lemon cake (except for this one…when paired with strawberry, I’m in) in favor of something with peanut butter, chocolate, or caramel. I’m more of a fan of lemon in savory applications. Chicken picatta, lemon juice in my salad dressing, and especially Lemon Ricotta Ravioli are some of my favorite lemony applications.

However, for some reason last night when I was in the pantry examining the shelves for inspiration, I looked down at that HUGE box of lemons (I’m really going to need to share a picture of that box…you don’t understand how many lemons we have) and just really wanted a lemon poppy-seed muffin. I also really didn’t want to make muffins.

Strawberry Lemon Layer Cake

This Strawberry Lemon Layer Cake has layers of lemon cake sandwiches with raspberry buttercream. You’ll love this fresh, impressive dessert!

One hundred. In some ways, it seems like a big number. $100 is a ton of money when you’re 13 years old and going shopping, but it is a drop in the bucket when you are putting a down payment on a house. It’s a long time for one person to live to 100 years old, but in the scheme of time, 100 years is only a sliver of the time that Earth has been around. 100 books seems like a ton for one person to read themselves, but in the Library of Congress, it’s barely anything. I could go on and on with the metaphors, but you get the point. So, big or small? I guess 100 is one of those numbers that can be taken as either, it is all about how you’re measuring it.

For me, for this to be my hundredth post, it’s big. It means that 100 times, I’ve given you all a recipe I’ve made in my own kitchen. I’ve shared with you a story, an anecdote, a thought from my life. One hundred times I’ve taken the time to bake, to photograph, to write, to perfect, and to post. I do it all because I love it.
