This cake is perfect dusted with powdered sugar or served with a bit of whipped cream. This blueberry crumb cake was inspired by a candle. An amazingly delicious smelling, super cheap candle from Walmart. It’s one of the candles from their basic line, and I think the three wick was something like $4. The scent is called Blueberry Pancakes, but it always reminds me a freshly baked blueberry muffin.

If you’ve made blueberry muffins at home, you know the scent. The one that hits your nose right when you open the oven door to pull them out, or when you tear into one when it’s still warm. It’s the scent of bursted blueberries and a sweet, sugary crumb. The candle smells pretty spot on, if not a little bit artificial. [Read more…]

These soft and chewy Gingerbread Snickerdoodles are so easy and perfect for the holidays. These two-tone cookies are full of flavor, and made with only four ingredients!Sometimes you need one of those recipes that is seriously so easy but so delicious that you’ll want to make it time and time again. This is totally one of those recipes – and the flavors of gingerbread and snickerdoodles work together so perfectly, you won’t be able to keep your hands away from them.

Back in September when I was visiting the Krusteaz headquarters and representing them at the International Food Blogger Conference as a part of the Baker’s Dozen, we ate a lot of cookies. One of the events that the Krusteaz Baker’s Dozen helped to host was a super fun cookie exchange where all of the bloggers in attendance did some fun crafts, got to know each other, and of course…we each got to take home TONS of cookies! This Apple Crumb Cake is full of warm spices, apple chunks, and Greek yogurt to keep it soft! This recipe has a super thick crumb layer and is a perfect fall cake.I get asked all the time what my favorite dessert is. It seems like a natural question for people to ask, considering dessert is what I do, but what most people don’t realize is that being constantly surrounded by new and exciting desserts makes it so much harder to choose one to hail as your favorite.

When the question comes up, as it inevitably does, my answer usually has something to do with apples (unless it’s a chocoholic sort of day – you know the ones). Apple crisp is a pretty standard answer, but sometimes it’s an apple crumble pie. It almost certainly includes apples, cinnamon, and a crumble of some sort.

These Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Rolls are super easy to make - only one bowl and no yeast required! They're ready in 45 minutes and perfect as a quick breakfast or snack.Yesterday, my roommate and I woke up decently early, feeling refreshed, and decided to head to the farmer’s market. It was quintessential perfect fall outside, with the leaves changing into rainbows on their branches, a crisp blue sky and a chilly bite in the air.

At the farmer’s market, pumpkins were everywhere with piles of apples on all of the tables in every variety you can imagine. There were apple ciders, pear ciders, and flavored versions of them both. It was buzzing with the warmth and comfort of fall – my favorite thing about the season.

These Pumpkin Cheesecake Crumb Bars have a crumble crust full of oats and pecans with a creamy pumpkin cheesecake filling. This recipe is an irresistible fall treat!

For a few days this week, my entire apartment building smelled like pumpkin spice. I have been putting pumpkin into ALL of the things. It started by choice, and then I realized that I had opened a Costco-sized can of pumpkin and had way more pumpkin than I needed to get through with the two pumpkin recipes I had lined up.

So…I made the recipes (both coming soon!) and still had more than half a GIANT can left. So I started thinking of more pumpkin recipes, scouring my scrawled recipe brainstorming lists, and soliciting recipe ideas from my Instagram followers.

Over this past weekend, I heard a lot of inspirational voices discussing what someone’s writing should have in order to stand out from the thousands of other blog posts and articles being published every hour. Blogging has become a crowded space over the years, and the airwaves are jam-packed with people trying to get their message and their voice heard. It’s like a room where everyone’s jostling to get on stage, but no one knows exactly how to get there.

The folks already standing up there had one invaluable tip to share: be authentic. I heard the words spilling from the lips of editors, New York Times writers, and just about every other blogger I spoke with. Blogging is a place to be the biggest and best version of yourself, whoever that may be.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookie Bars

These Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookie Bars are easy, chewy bars with fresh apples and cinnamon chips.I’m going to start with a word of warning that this is a long post with a ton of recap from the International Food Bloggers Conference! It was a spectacular and exciting weekend, to say the least. Let’s start at the beginning: my weekend started bright and early on Thursday morning at 7:30 AM at the Krusteaz Headquarters.

As a member of the Krusteaz Baker’s Dozen, they invited me to come to their headquarters here in Seattle to shoot some hack videos. I said yes a few months back, before I would let myself freak out over being on camera and chicken out. I was beyond nervous going into it. To ensure I was well rested and didn’t have any under eye circles on camera, I went to sleep at 9:30pm the night before, which also happened to be my 22nd birthday. Wild and crazy birthday, yeah?

Apple Crisp

This classic Apple Crisp is made with firm, lightly sweetened and spiced apples and topped with a crispy crumble topping with oats and pecans. It's baked in a skillet and best served with vanilla ice cream!I’ve wondered for a while now: what in the world is the difference between a crisp and a crumble? Both of them are crumbly toppings, usually thrown on top of fruit, baked in an over into bubbly, golden, and gorgeous. Traditionally made with lots of butter, sugar, and flour for ultimate deliciousness.

I’m a huge fan of both crisps and crumbles, but today, curiosity got the best of me and I did a little research. Turns out, the two terms tend to be pretty interchangeable according to most sources. A few places did claim a difference between the two in that crisp toppings usually included oats, whereas crumbles usually don’t have any oats. [Read more…]
