Are you a big into snacking, or are you more of a stick-to-your-meals kind of person? I do a little of both – on the days when I’m recipe developing and testing, I’m snacking on baked treats all day and don’t even really eat real meals until dinner.

On the other days, I’m usually a stick-to-my-meals person, but there’s got to be some sort of sweet treat during the day. I’m a baking blogger after all, so it’s okay, right?! [Read more…]

I hope everyone had a wonderful long Memorial Day weekend, and is enjoying the short four-day week! Mine has been nothing short of fantastic – if you’ve been following along on Snapchat, you’ll know I’m currently road tripping with my dad from Seattle down to San Diego.

We are not taking the quick way though. We’re winding slowly but surely down the 101, and we’ve spent three nights on the Oregon coast so far. The first night was spent at an adorable bed and breakfast on the beach in Newport, which is just about the cutest fishing town ever with delicious seafood. [Read more…]

Because May means it’s been just about a year since I graduated college, and that seems totally unreal. Growing up, I remember everyone older than me always saying to enjoy where you’re at in life – embrace being young and being in school and stop trying to grow up so quickly.

The older I get, the more I understand why they said that. Not only is childhood a time to be greatly appreciated, but time seems to be speeding up as I age. Days and weeks can fly by in a haze of busy-ness with little notice. Suddenly, it’s been a year since I graduated and took on Bakerita full time. [Read more…]

And these photos are the first photos I’m posting that I took using it. What do you think?!

I went pro, and bought myself the Canon 6D and the 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens (those are affiliate links). It cost a whole lot of money and it sort of hurt to pay it, I was due for an upgrade and I’m glad I splurged and got a really great camera and lens. I still barely know how to use it, but since I’m coming from another Canon (the Rebel T3 – discontinued, here’s the newer version; and 50mm f/1.8 lens), the learning curve isn’t too steep.

No. 1 on my list of favorite desserts is any kind of apple crumble. It’s the one dessert I have very little self-control over, and therefore always have to have people around when I make it lest it go straight from the pan to my mouth..

I’m not an apple crumble discriminator. I like it in many forms. Straight-up apple crumble with silky smooth apples and a crunchy, buttery topping always does the trick, and you can’t go wrong with an apple crumble pie, because who doesn’t love an extra layer of crust? Add berries to the equation and you have a warm, comforting dessert that is equally tart and sweet and crunchy and soft. [Read more…]

Delish is an awesome site for everything food, and twice a month, I’ll be developing and sharing recipes over on their site. My first post is creamy, sweet, and absolutely perfect for the Fourth of July! Here’s a little post preview…click over for the whole thing, including the recipe!

Growing up, the 4th of July always felt like the middle of my summer. I remember in elementary school when the holiday came, I would start to feel like the countdown back to school would begin. In reality, the 4th of July is the pinnacle of summer, and it was just my younger self feeling the need to appreciate my limited days of summer vacation, with long days at the pool and weeks spent at cooking camp. I just graduated from college last month, so this is my first 4th of July without another school ahead of me, but I still feel the need to appreciate each summer day.

This Berry Rhubarb Pie features fresh strawberries and raspberries, which pair perfectly with the tart rhubarb to create a sweet and tart pie that'll have everyone asking for seconds!Real time confession: I just snuck away to the kitchen right before writing this and snuck a bite out of the itty bitty piece that’s left of this pie, and smothered it in some of the vanilla whipped cream from my last post. Not to sound pushy, but seriously: if you’re a pie fan, this is one you don’t want to miss (says the girl whose mouth is full of pie).

Before this particular berry rhubarb pie, I had never tried rhubarb. I had made a few strawberry rhubarb pies back in the day for a friend of my mom’s, but pie isn’t the sort of thing you can try before you give someone. I gave the strawberry rhubarb pies to her and crossed my fingers that they were alright. [Read more…]
