***2017 Update*** Back atcha with another updated recipe – this one is an OLDIE! We’re talking six years old – this Maple Almond Butter was originally posted back on March 17th, 2011! If you hang around here, you know I make ALLLL the nut butters these days, but this Maple Almond Butter was the FIRST flavored nut butter I ever made at home. There’s a major sense of nostalgia and pride right there, so this recipe definitely has a special place in my heart.

It’s just as delicious as I remembered it being, with the maple syrup adding just enough sweetness and the seeds adding extra texture and nutrition. All the goodness, right there! These post below is left just as it went up six years ago…enjoy my seventeen year old self.  [Read more…]

It is starting to really feel like spring around here. Yesterday was a warm and pretty perfect 78ºF here in San Diego, and today is pretty much the same. The nights are warmer, and the chilly bite is finally subsiding.

How’s it feeling around you guys? Starting to warm up and feel like spring just yet?! I still can’t believe it’s already mid-April – warm summer days are approaching fast! [Read more…]

Okay, I know I just shared another nut butter recipe last week (this homemade cinnamon raisin almond butter) but I had to share this one too because it’s SO GOOD and I seriously can’t stop eating it.

You’re maybe side-eyeing me right now, because banana bread-flavored nut butter sounds a little bizarre, no? Bizarre but incredibly delicious, let me tell you… [Read more…]

A batch of these truffles makes the perfect holiday gift.Sometimes, the best compliment you can get on a dessert is silence…just the sound people chewing, and maybe the occasional moan of satisfaction as it’s devoured.

When I brought out these salted almond chocolate truffles at the end of my grandpa’s birthday dinner and passed them around the table to my family, I got silence (rare) and a lot of “mmmmm”s. Then the Tupperware went around the table again…and again. That, my friends, is the ultimate compliment. [Read more…]

These Paleo Almond Coconut Chocolate Chunk Cookies are made with almond butter and big chocolate chunks for super gooey, decadent cookies! These gluten free and refined sugar free cookies will definitely satisfy your cookie craving.Happy Friday, friends! This week has been a long and stressful one – full of divisiveness and arguments, and for a lot of us, disappointment. So, I thought we could all use a cookie. A big, warm cookie with gooey chocolate chunks, because that is something we can definitely all agree on, right?

This particular batch of cookies gets jazzed up by two of my all-time favorite ingredients: crunchy almonds + flaked coconut! The two come together with the big chunks of chocolate for an outrageously gooey and delicious cookie. [Read more…]

These no bake Dried Cherry, Almond + Chocolate Chip Granola Bars are the perfect grab and go breakfast or snack. These flavor-packed granola bars are gluten free, refined sugar free, vegan, and topped with a dark chocolate drizzle! When I was a little one, I could not pronounce ‘granola bar’ for the life of me. I loved them and requested them often, but in my toddler gibberish, I was unable to ask for them, instead requesting “ganenah boats” – something my parents tried hard to decipher for a while before finally figuring out I was referring to granola bars from me pointing at them.

With my little kid speech impediments, it took me a few years before my pronunciation made sense to anyone outside of the family, but the granola bar love perpetuated through childhood. To be honest, though, I’d sort of fallen off the granola bar wagon. [Read more…]

This Blueberry Nectarine Pie is the epitome of summer, and it has a delicious oatmeal almond crumble on top! This gluten free and refined sugar free pie is sure to be a favorite.
Happy Friday! Another summer weekend is upon us, and I hope you’ll be spending it well! Particularly, enjoying the sunshine and hopefully some delicious baked goods, starring some of summer’s best produce. My summer fruit obsession is continuing strong, and this blueberry nectarine pie is definitely an appropriate representation of that.

Is it just me, or are nectarines a little underrated? Especially in the baking world! You see peaches as the star of so many different recipes, but nectarines are barely ever used. I think that’s a grave mistake, because nectarines are definitely one of my favorites for as long as I can get my hands on them.  [Read more…]

This Chocolate Cherry Tart has a toasted almond shortbread crust filled with silky chocolate ganache and fresh cherries! This gluten-free, Paleo, and vegan dessert is incredibly rich and comes together quickly. This summer is truly flying by – how is already almost August?! Granted, I’ve been on the go for most of it. At the end of May, I moved from Seattle to San Diego via a week long road trip down the West Coast, closely followed by three weeks cruising around Europe. As if that wasn’t enough, this past weekend I went back up to Seattle to attend Pemberton music festival near Whistler in British Colombia with my friends.

While it was all so much fun and I’m not complaining for one second, since I got back from the music festival (which was amaaaaaazing) this past Monday, I have been so happy to sit my butt down on the couch, get caught up on work, and not move too much. I, for once, am happy to not have any trips in my immediate future. [Read more…]
